Japanese inventions that changed the world

Posted by Keller & George at 3:00:15 AM in Mikimoto (27)

Japan, the land of the rising sun, is also the land of inventions and innovations that changed the world across the years. Here are just a few of the stuff they introduced to the world and we love Japan for them. Electronic calculators were invented by Casio in 1957, which help many of us to do away with counting fingers. Instant ramen, a college staple or a quick meal, was developed by Nissin Food in 1971. Electric rice cooker---no more burnt rice---was invented in 1940 (right in the middle of World War 2!) by Mitsubishi Electric. Karaoke, which brought us also obnoxious drinking nights, was first introduced globally by the Japanese. There's another invention that not everybody knows was developed by Japan: cultured pearls, which allow us today to create stunning pearl jewelry. Mikimoto invented the production of hemispherical pearls in 1896.

Classy Metalsmiths Sterling

Posted by Keller & George at 3:00:00 AM in Metalsmiths Sterling (23)

Sterling silver has a unique allure that gold and platinum cannot match. Perhaps, it's the confidence of wearing silver jewelry, that, despite being less luxurious than its precious metal cousins, sterling silver stands up on its own. It's this attitude that characterizes Metalsmiths Sterling, a brand known for its rustic, rugged, street-smart appeal combined with elegance and fine craftsmanship. This is highlighted by the signature's Marquise Collection, which features bezel-set blue chalcedony rectangular cabochon. The collection is styled with checker cut stones as centerpiece and a pendant set in an 18-in rolo chain. Likewise, the Marquise is also featured in black onyx that can match your most elegant evening dress. It's arguably the classiest Metalsmiths Sterling by far, a signature that celebrates confidence and character.

A New Kind of Mémoire

Posted by Keller & George at 2:00:00 AM in Memoire (23)

Mémoire, which is known for its sturdy patented prong mountings, takes its fine diamond ring craftsmanship a step higher with its release of the Diamond Bouquets Collection. There's no interior prong working to hold the diamond; rather, nine diamonds surround a center stone, giving the illusion that the diamond is three times larger than its real carat weight. The entire set of diamonds is cut and precision set to mimic a single brilliant diamond, except that the whole ring sparkles with more than 500 facets. That means the ring exudes more light, fire, scintillation, and brilliance. The Diamond Bouquets Collection has a range of carat weights from 4.0 to 8.75. If you're looking for a different and more elegant diamond ring, this Mémoire collection will surely impress her.

The Formal Breitling

Posted by Keller & George at 2:00:00 AM in Breitling (0)

It's one of the rare occasions when you can wear a bulky sports watch in the boardroom or formal gathering. Where most sports watches are tacky and unsophisticated to wear in, say, an evening party, the Breitling Navitimer is an exception. It is rugged, yes, and bulky, but this elegant watch straddles formality and sportsy appeal. It belongs to a man who has the fashion flair as well as a taste for adventure. A young CEO who has made a fortune with his startup deserves to bring his other love, the outdoors, to the boardroom, and this watch makes it possible. Breitling Navitime accentuates a sleek black suit, while its impressive engineering fits the most challenging adventure activities. It has self-winding chronograph, plus a triple-dial feature and a Manufacture Caliber 01 for timekeeping accuracy. For a formal look, a classic brown backdrop suits any formal evening theme.
