We take a look at a Grainger-McCoy
gallery and easily our eyes catch the Sanderlings
art work. It is perhaps the most complicated Grainger-McCoy birds-in-flight work that we’ve seen, consisting of fifteen birds in a flight motion (most Grainger-McCoy sculptures only have, at most, three birds). The Sanderlings
birds are captured flying in a single direction, mimicking flocks of sanderling
taking flight by the coast. It evokes a sense of the outdoors, never mind if the material is basswood, metal, and oil paint. Such is the skill of the artist that this Grainger-McCoy work exhibits a dynamic motion. The sculpture is ideal for a study room accent or a center table décor
. It can also work as a corner accent in the living room, where it can be subtly placed but surely to get attention.
Grainger-McCoy is available at Keller & George on Millmont St., Charlottesville.
